Nobody Dies When It's Sunny
a film by Niles Harrison

I first met Danny B. at Burning Man a few years ago when he was still doing drugs. I was reunited with him recently on a trip from my current home in Venice, California to my former home in Portland, Oregon. I went there to shoot a wedding video for my ex-girlfriend and stayed at my old friend Matto’s house, where Danny was renting a small room. When Danny started to tell me about his life and his job, I asked him if I could make a short documentary about him. I think his answer was “Fuck yeah.”

I had seen Danny act in a short film called “Deluge” and knew he was comfortable in front of a camera. But this isn’t acting—this is a small window into his real life. This is the story of his struggle with the loss of his loved ones and his daily struggle with drug addiction. Danny claims that having death all around him reminds him to stay alive. I hope it does.

"This is an example of what a good documentary should be. A doc about an intriguing subject matter that has many intersecting themes and mainly plays out through one central character that the audience can identify with and gets to know quite intimately." -Sydney Underground Film Festival
